About VPR
(from "WINDOWS VISUAL PUBLISHER RAINMAN GETTING
RESULTS GUIDE" by Allen Stenger)
Visual Publisher Rainman (VPR) is an online tool
for publishing content to the AOL Rainman system.
If you are already using Interact, TCP Collector,
or Rainman Grinder, you may be able to do your
job more easily using VPR. If you are new to Rainman
publishing, you may find that VPR will satisfy
all your publishing needs.
Rainman means Remote Area Information Manager.
Most of the pages (windows) you see when using
the AOL service are Rainman pages. Once you have
created the content you want to publish, VPR provides
a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) interface
to assemble and publish the pages. The pages are
then instantly available to the AOL members.
Versions of VPR have been created for both Macintosh
and Windows platforms. Usually the pages you create
using VPR are viewable on both platforms. If you
need different versions for Macintosh and Windows,
you can create all pages on either platform and
tell the Rainman system which pages to show on
which platform.
VPR runs as a client tool (add-on to the client
software), which allows it to display the pages
exactly as they will be seen on the member’s computer.
VPR is sometimes called the Rainman Tool; these
terms are synonymous.
