Functions
Current Screen Name:
This uses the async_get_screen_name to retrieve the current
screen name. This retrieves what the application thinks is your screen name, not what the
system thinks it is. To see what I mean by this, switch to your own
screen name with non-alphanumeric characters (and not @) preceding it. For example, if your screen name
is "Steve Case" you could switch to "~~!-Steve Case". When you get on open your mailbox.
The caption will be whatever the name you just switched to is. So mine would say, "~~!-Steve Case".
It is possible to set your screen name to anything using async_set_screen_name
, but only on the New User (porch). This is NOT morphing, mearly fooling the application.
Chat rooms, Instant Messages, and everything else still is the real screen name that you are on.
WARNING: Do not attempt to switch to a screen name totaling more than sixteen
characters. It wall crash AOL and it will never load again until you replace the main.idx. This shouldn't be
a problem though, you normally cannot enter more than sixteen characters in the switch names text box.
Switch: Current Account
Uses sm_send_token_arg to send the nt token which opens the default switch screen name
form.
Sign Offline
Opens a form asking if you really want to sign offline. If you chose Yes, then it sends the token/arg pE 20 which
signs you offline. It is the same as cling the Sign Off menu.
Note: pE 21 is what is sent by clcking the menu Exit. It will sign you offline and close AOL as well.
async_online
This makes the application think that you are online. Clicking this on while on the the Sign On
screen will enable all the toolbar icons, etc. This leads to a nice PFC password bypasser. If someone on your computer
uses a stored password for their PFC you can easily disable it.
- Open the Switch Screen Name form.
- Select the screen name from your sign on list that you which to disable the password for.
- Click async_online on the Switch Screen Name form.
- Open the stored password form via My AOL > Preferences > Passwords.
- Uncheck the PFC check box.
Normally this is unaccessable because AOL uses the if_offline_then to check where you are online or not.
Since you can only access the stored password form while online you need to make AOL think you are online in order to
access it. Thats what this is for.
Special Names
There are certain names that can be signed on with any password that will invoke certain forms. These include New User, Guest, and New Local#.
