Discovered on an AOL staffer's account, Utilities was an AOL add-on for
Mac AOL which allowed invoking of K1 tokens. Later modified by
programmers, hax0rs were soon able to invoke all of the other tokens as
well. It was the counterpart to the PC's Star tool(Master.aol) which
invoked f1 tokens.
The discovery of Utilities sparked the beginning of AOL token exploiting.
Up until this time all hacks involved stealing AOL accounts with certain
tool access. All real AOL hax0ring began with the Mac users who used
Utilities. It wasn't until the following year when Mad Misery released
Master.aol for 16 bit AOL clients that PCs were able to begin exploiting
tokens.
